The Illawarra Plum is a small, dark-purple fruit native to eastern Australia, particularly in the Illawarra region of New South Wales. Known for its unique subtly sweet and pine flavoured flesh, these juicey plums can be eaten raw, however they are best enjoyed when pickled or cooked. Use Illawarra Plum to add a unique dimension to all manner of sweet and savoury creations, especially in jams and preserves- it bleeds a stunning dark purple hue to all that it touches, and is packed full of essential nutrients.
